Your Local Kiwi
We are passionate about sharing the magic of wild kiwi encounters with visitors from around the world, right here in the beautiful Matakana region.

Continuing a Legacy of Kiwi Conservation
Kiwi Tours Matakana continues the proud tradition of guided kiwi encounters at Tawharanui Regional Park, building on years of experience in wildlife tourism and conservation.
Based just 8 kilometres from Tawharanui, we have an intimate knowledge of this predator-free sanctuary and its thriving Kiwi population. Our tours offer visitors a genuine opportunity to experience one of New Zealand's most iconic birds in the wild.
We work closely with Auckland Council and local conservation groups to ensure our tours support the ongoing protection and growth of the Kiwi population at Tawharanui.

Predator-Free Sanctuary
Tawharanui is one of Auckland's most precious natural assets, a fenced park protecting Kiwi and other native birds.
Located at the tip of a beautiful peninsula, the park features stunning beaches, coastal forests, and regenerating bush that provides perfect habitat for Kiwi.
The sanctuary's predator-proof fence keeps out stoats, rats, and possums, allowing Kiwi populations to flourish.
